Nursing Staff

The largest workforce in the CMG is the nursing staff, with a mixture of qualified staff and health care assistants of all grades.  The staff are highly skilled in the treatment of medical conditions and rehabilitation working with therapists.

There are several specialist nurses such as haematology specialist nurse and a medical nurse practitioner.

All of the wards facilitate both pre registration and post registration students and are dedicated to providing the best learning environment possible.

Medical Staff

The hospital is affiliated with University College Medical School and the Consultants are dedicated to the education of medical students and junior doctors.

Administration and Clerical Staff

There are many opportunities within the Medical CMG for administration and clerical staff of all grades.  They provide the vital foundation for much of the work that the CMG undertakes. There are many medical secretaries, receptionists and admissions staff who work to ensure that patients move smoothly through both outpatients and the admissions process.

Service Developments

2001/02 will see the commissioning of Phase 1B of Barnet Hospital and the move of all medical services on the Barnet site into the new ward and outpatients block which completes the total re-build of Barnet Hospital.  As an integral part of this development, a totally electronic patient record is being developed Trust wide, starting on the Barnet site.  This is driving the development of protocols and integrated care pathways Trust wide.  In 2001/02, the real impact of EPR will begin to be felt on the Barnet site, with all the opportunities and challenges that come with it.

The development of patient focused services will be a key priority for 2001/02.  This will include a focus on clinical governance, quality, service improvement, education and teaching as well as workforce planning.

Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the unit is to provide the best possible service for the patients within our care.

We are dedicated to the education and development of our staff through skills experience and formal education.

Our aim is to integrate the service and management teams so that everyone is working towards the same goal and delivering the corporate objectives.
